Navigating Your Treatment

Your guide to the care journey at Renal World.

Your Dialysis Options

When your kidneys need support, dialysis is a life-sustaining treatment that helps filter your blood. Understanding your options is the first step toward choosing a path that fits your health needs and lifestyle. At Renal World, we primarily offer two types of hemodialysis:

  • In-Center Hemodialysis: This is the most common form of dialysis. You'll visit one of our comfortable, state-of-the-art centers typically three times a week for a session that lasts about four hours. Our expert clinical team will manage your entire treatment, allowing you to relax, read, or connect with others.
  • Nocturnal Dialysis: For those who qualify, nocturnal dialysis offers a gentler, more gradual filtration process. These longer, slower sessions are performed overnight, which can lead to better health outcomes, fewer dietary restrictions, and more freedom during the day.

What to Expect on Your First Visit

Your first visit can feel overwhelming, but we're here to make it as smooth and comfortable as possible. You'll be greeted by your dedicated care team who will guide you through every step. We'll start by taking your vital signs, weighing you, and helping you get settled into your comfortable, personal treatment station. We encourage you to ask questions and share any concerns—we are your partners in this journey.

Preparing for Your Appointments

A little preparation can make your treatment days much easier. Here are a few tips:

  • Wear comfortable clothing. Loose-fitting clothes make it easier for our team to access your fistula or graft.
  • Bring something to pass the time. A book, tablet, or headphones can make your session more enjoyable.
  • Pack a light snack if needed. Check with your care team about the best options for you.
  • Keep a journal. Note any questions or symptoms you want to discuss with your doctor or nurse.
